Shabby Vintage Transformation Double Time- Old Wood Medicine Cabinet

Memories in the corner of my mind

I recently refinished this old wood medicine cabinet.
I was thinking about how much of a reminder it was of my grandmother's cabinet in her bathroom. I used to go sneaking through it to see what she had hidden. Oh the good ol' times.

This was a super fun project simply because of all the design possibilities. First things First... I removed the back and painted the body black. The I took these awesome squares of 6x6 pre-printed paper and glued them in a pattern.

Second Step

I removed the doors and painted them white. I wanted to add a little shabby, so I glazed them a bit with some outdoor stain. This gave them the vintage look I wanted. I then took a bit of the glaze and went over the base of the entire unit. It needed more flow father than the flat black that was in the original plan.

Once the base, back and doors were completed I moved on to the most important part... The details!
The first version has the plain doors and the black and white knobs. The second version has the red knobs, decorated doors and the red towel holder.

Here is the finished product. I decided to add twine to the edges of the finished product to cover up a bit of wear. It actually made it look like more of a finished edge.

Thanks a bunch for reading my blog and Happy Crafting!

:-)
